Camping?

Well, no.  Not camping in the winter rain or snow backs of the Cascades.  It is on my mind though.  When the good weather comes again I look forward to the dust in my face.  The smoke from the fire in my eyes.  The rocks on the beach that are too sharp to walk on without the shoes that were left in the car.  The hike to a vista that makes me tired.  All the that.  Camping.

Just a quick not.

La Conner, Washington

The town of La Conner is called the hidden treasure.  Yes, it is the chamber calling it that.  It is a treasure.  Not just a promotional slogan but, this is a special place in the Pacific Northwest not everyone is familiar with.  So, it is some what hidden I guess.  The town is working on a boardwalk design.  That is a great idea.  With the location and mood of the Puget Sound it could easily capture the feel of the region and make it just that much more special.

To get more information about staying in La Conner a good

Long Beach Peninsula

There simply have not been enough trips taken to the North West Place where the town is full the life and the beach is truly long.  Long Beach Peninsula is full of life.  I love the boardwalk

Sequim, Wa

Just let someone unfamiliar try to pronounce the name Sequim.  It's kind of fun.  (skwim)  There is no place in the northwest of Washington state like it.  Not just the town, but the climate and the environment.  How does 16 inches of rain a year sound?  That is less than the Bay Area of California.  Yet it is in the Pacific Northwest.

When talking to people about Sequim it isn't long before someone mentions the Olympic Game Farm and the Lavender farms of the area.  Disney filmed here.

Leavenworth, Washington

Going to Leavenworth is one of those things you hear about people doing for the winter wonderland of Christmas.  Well, that was not the time we went.  It was hot and it was a summer wonderland.  If there is such a term.  Photos of the area show just how beautiful it is in all seasons.  To make

Forks, Washington

Yes, Forks is now known as the place of shape shifters and vampires.  But, you know, before all that happened we were aware of that part of the Pacific Northwest at a beautiful place.  Wet, but beautiful.  The deep green of the forest and the rush of the Pacific Ocean are reason enough to visit Forks.

The sights of the area amazing.  http://www.forkswa.com/  is a great site to learn about
forks and find places to say and places to eat.  Naturally there are too many things to do it is best to check out this site and read it all.

Ft. Flagler

It was a short camping stay at Ft. Flagler.  Great place.  We put a tent in the upper area.  They put the sail boat at a buoy.  The camp site was close enough to the bluff to look down at the beach and the boat.

The crab we got was fantastic.  Some red rock, but there was enough

Yakima Wine Country

It's easy to change climate.  Just go over the Cascade mountains and everthing is different.  When you live on the west side it is easy to forget how sunny things are in, let's say, Yakima.  We need to do this more often, those of us from the western side of the state of Washington.  The city has a completely different feel than we have.

Friday Harbor

Friday Harbor has t be one of the best places anywhere.  The town has a wonderful charm about it.  When there you feel the appreciation in the air of the people taking in the island mood.  Not just an island mood, but the feel of the northwest.  One of the truly enjoyable ways of getting there is

Pacific Beach and Oceans Shores

The season is slipping by and we needed some salt air and sand.  We got plenty of it.  Some where it was wanted and some in other places.

As we headed out there was no real decision about what beach.  When we hit Aberdeen we moved to the north beach area.  Truly it was not as issue going north or south.  Just do the beach and

Percival Landing

I don't remember when I first was at Percival Landing.  Let's just say it was a while ago.  There is a lot of change.  People are being invited to join in on the change.  Look around for information at the previous link.

While in Olympia I took a walk through the Olympia Farmers Market  I moved onto the waterfront area.  It was a great

Mount Rainier

It had been far too long.  A simple picnic was need.  Mount Rainier was the place.  This has been a favorite for a long, long time.  Not so much to do the great hiking or climbing.  Just to be in the mountain air and have a lunch with a view.

The old visitor center is gone.  http://www.nationalparkstraveler.com/2008/11/end-era-mount-rainier-national-park

Cannon Beach, Oregon

Cannon Beach was one of those places we had heard much about.  However, like so many points in the northwest we had not been there yet.  So, we went.

It wasn't a plan.  It was more like "let's go to Cannon Beach and see what is there."  In the car early in the morning and off we go.  The coast of the Pacific Northwest is
