It's easy to change climate. Just go over the Cascade mountains and everthing is different. When you live on the west side it is easy to forget how sunny things are in, let's say, Yakima. We need to do this more often, those of us from the western side of the state of Washington. The city has a completely different feel than we have.
For wine keep in mind the oldest and most diverse region is right here. There is no need to travel far to find great wines and learn some interesting history at the same time. Of course, that doesn't mean taking a longer trip is a bad idea. It's just not needed.
The produce of the Yakima are is legendary. Look how beautiful everything is in these facebook images. Makes me hungry. Peaches and cream.
