It had been far too long. A simple picnic was need. Mount Rainier was the place. This has been a favorite for a long, long time. Not so much to do the great hiking or climbing. Just to be in the mountain air and have a lunch with a view.

The new visitor center is completely
different. Nice. But, different. There are some memories in the old building and the area it sat. Well, new memories will be made.
The season was slow in changing. Snow was still covering most of the picnic ground just before the visitor center. After walking around and see the changes we went back down to the Cougar Rock campground and picnic area. After all, picnic is why we came. It was quiet and very pleasant. That's what we needed and that is what we got.
