Baby Sitting On The Lake

Parks have held a special place for me for many years.  That is probably due to a park being just two houses away for most of my young years.  Steele Lake Park was and is a wonderful playground.  Not just in the literal way, but in the idea that as a kid there was always adventure or relaxation right there just a few steps away.

There is no real surprise for me when I hear someone say or post on social media that this lake and this park was a common and important part of their youth.  The swimming.  Laying in the sun.  Ballgames being played.  I would sit in the willows that are now gone.

Now I sit with the youngest of grandchildren, so far, and look out at the water.  He lives on the lake.  There are waterfowl unfamiliar to me.  Maybe just unnoticed before now.  The days are warming.  Not quite spring time.  Long neck geese by the pair flying over.

The history is great, but the future is greater.  Maybe the greatest.
